Saint Francis University

Outlook: For the first time in Rob Krimmel’s coaching career, both as the head coach and as an assistant, the Red Flash are the decided favorite of the 2017-18 season. Replacing defensive stalwart Josh Nebo looms large as Krimmel boasts the deepest collection of guards and wings in the league. Continue reading

Wagner, St. Francis Classic Leaves Everyone Winners

All Bashir Mason could do was smile. What else was there to do?

Keith Braxton faked, got stuck, and self-admittedly threw the ball at the basket, and it subsquently made one revolution around the rim and dropped, giving Saint Francis University a 71-70 victory in the NEC semifinals Saturday afternoon. As the ball finally finished its circuituous journey to the bottom of the net, it simultaneously stunned the home crowd at the Spiro Center and set off wild celebrations among the Red Flash and their faithful, as it marks the first time since 1991 they will be in the NEC final, well before anyone in uniform Saturday was born.

Maturing Saint Francis University Falls To American

After dropping their season opener against a more athletic and talented Cincinnati squad, Saint Francis University (SFU) admirably stood toe to toe with the defending Patriot League champions before falling in defeat after Dominique Major’s three-pointer at the buzzer clanged off the back of the rim. It was a difficult loss, considering the Red Flash had three possessions late to either tie or take the lead, but with all things considered, Rob Krimmel wasn’t too disappointed with the final outcome.

Krimmel Optimistic Saint Francis Will Contend

Down 11 points with 9:33 remaining in the Northeast Conference (NEC) quarterfinals, it was shaping up to be another ho-hum season for Saint Francis University basketball. There was some progress worth highlighting, but a 9-21 final record would’ve given the Red Flash four straight seasons of failing to reach ten wins, and 23 consecutive years of falling short of the NEC semifinals.
