NIT Bracketology: Jan. 21

NOTE: If you want the latest in NIT bracketology you can always find it here.

Welcome to conference play! The NIT bracket is buzzing fast and furiously. Winning games in conference is the best way to improve your profile for the NCAA or NIT tournament brackets. Unfortunately, the locals are struggling. Yes, St. John’s and Princeton appear in the bracket, but they’re quite a ways down.

Both teams need to win in order to move up and improve seeding. They’re also below the “automatic bid cut line” that’s usually about 10 teams or so.

Without further ado, here is the bracket. The next one will come out the first week of February.

NIT Bracket:

1. Tennessee
8. Miami (FL)
4. Butler
5. Southern Miss
3. Indiana
6. North Dakota St.
2. Richmond
7. Eastern Michigan

1. Purdue
8. Maryland
4. Illinois
5. Washington
3. Ohio
6. Mississippi
2. Indiana St.
7. La Salle

1. Southern Methodist
8. Texas A&M
4. Arizona St.
5. LSU
3. Boise St.
6. Utah
2. BYU
7. Saint Joseph’s

1. Notre Dame
8. St. John’s
4. Marquette
5. Wake Forest
3. Louisiana Tech
6. Clemson
2. Saint Mary’s
7. Princeton

The bracket doesn’t have any adjustments for home and away match ups, but I did try and get the best match ups. The Notre Dame-St. John’s game, Illinois-Washington and Arizona State-LSU are obviously made for television.

The last few at-large teams into the NCAA tournament, in no particular order were: Missouri, Georgetown, Stanford, Dayton, Arkansas and Providence.

Sorry !! Just noticed this article is from 1/21. I think UGA should definitely be on an updated projection.
