Manhattan’s Steve Masiello on Chris Thomas’ Status: “Up in the air”

Manhattan head coach Steve Masiello said that the Jaspers decision on bringing in junior college guard Chris Thomas is “up in the air.”

“I don’t know if we’re going to bring in the JC kid,” Masiello said referring to Thomas. “That’s kind of still up in the air right now, so we’ll see what happens with that.”

Thomas signed with the Jaspers during the early signing period from Chipola Junior College in Florida, but has been in trouble since signing. Thomas, under conditional release from charges of driving without a valid drivers license and operating an unregistered vehicle, tested positive for marijuana in March as part of his pre-trail program. The positive test led to a suspension from the JUCO state tournament, the final two games of the season for Chipola.

“We have to make some decisions as a program, is that something that we want to move forward with and that type of thing,” Masiello said. “We’re going to evaluate that a little more and probably make a decision in the next couple days.”
